The Dangerous Harpist…

Copy of postcard4-1

The most dangerous harpist in the world Ursula Burns randomly fell into funny land when she accidentally won the Irish Musical Comedy Awards in Dublin 2012.

The maverick songstress has been performing all her life. From dodging the roasted chickens of drunk barbarians in the dungeons of medieval banquets to flea circuses and horse drawn theatre companies.

Along the way she released four self-penned albums and performed everywhere from the Albert Hall to burning fire escapes. Her first trip to Edinburgh festival last year saw her nominated for the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.  This is comedy coupled with virtuoso harping wrapped up in a nervous breakdown.

*****
“Mixing her patented Gothic camp with AC/DC references, a WB Yeats poem, two Ronnies style word play and a bit of swearing….the falls road performer has found her calling as a brilliant musical comedian”

Andrew Johnston at the Belfast Telegraph

“Funny and enchanting in equal measure with a lilting voice that makes the falls road sound like Brigadoon”

Kate Copstick at The Scotsman

“If Stewart Lee was a woman and played the harp, he would be Ursula Burns. Songs like ‘I do it for the money’ and ‘I like to go to hospital’ leave me with recurring tears of laughter. Very original, very funny, and plays a mean harp too.”

Kevin McAleer
